We strive to make New Albany Theatre Arts a warm and inclusive environment for every guest who attends our performances. We recognize that different aspects of our shows may affect audience members in unique ways. Instead of assigning a traditional "rating" to each production, we provide the following information so you can make the best choice for you and your family, according to your own needs and preferences.

Newsies Jr. (Sept 11 - 14)

​"Disney's Newsies Jr." is a 60-minute musical adaptation of the Broadway musical and the 1992 film, based on the true story of newsboys in turn-of-the-century New York City. The story follows Jack Kelly, a charismatic newsboy, who rallies his fellow newsies to strike against powerful newspaper publishers who are raising prices at their expense. The show explores themes of social injustice and the power of unity as the newsies fight for fair treatment and a livable wage. 

ROMANCE

No romantic scenes beyond hand-holding or brief embraces.

VIOLENCE

Some brief scuffles  between the newsboys and adult authorities. No weapons are used, and all violence is stylized for stage performance.

DRUGS & ALCOHOL

No drug or alcohol use is depicted.

LANGUAGE

​Dialogue and lyrics appropriate for family audiences. There is no profanity or adult language.

SENSORY ELEMENTS

There are no strobe effects or sudden loud noises designed to startle the audience.

POSITIVE ELEMENTS

Newsies Jr. emphasizes teamwork, courage, and standing up for what is right. The newsboys demonstrate resilience, friendship, and the power of collective action.

Come From Away (Nov 11 -23)

"Come From Away" is a Broadway musical based on the true story of how the small town of Gander, Newfoundland, Canada, welcomed thousands of airline passengers diverted there on September 11, 2001. The musical highlights the kindness and generosity of the townspeople as they open their homes and hearts to the stranded travelers, fostering unexpected friendships and demonstrating the power of community in a time of crisis. 

Peter Pan (March 6 - 15)

In Peter Pan the musical, the boy who refuses to grow up, Peter Pan, and his fairy companion Tinker Bell, visit the Darling children's nursery and whisk them away to Never Land. There, they encounter the Lost Boys, pirates led by the infamous Captain Hook, and other fantastical creatures. The musical follows Peter's adventures as he battles Hook, protects his friends, and ultimately grapples with the concept of growing up.
